MYOB
Training
The
objective with training is, firstly, to setup MYOB correctly and
in a way appropriate to the client's specific requirements. Secondly
to give the client a sound grasp of the routines they will need
to follow to ensure that their datafile is accurate and up to date.
I
usually carry out MYOB training at the client's premises and normally
on a one to one basis. This helps to ensure that MYOB is tailored
to the client's specific requirements and only the relevant parts
of MYOB are covered.
Typically
training for a small business takes between one and two days with
a couple of subsequent sessions. Obviously the time required is
dependent on the size and complexity of the business as well as
the extent to which the features of MYOB are used. For example if
payroll or stock recording are going to be used extra time may be
required.
The
first step is normally setting up the profit & loss and balance
sheet account headings which will reflect any specific requirements
that the client has. The next stage is to work through the various
routines that are relevant to the client e.g. sales invoicing, cash
received from customers, payments etc. I normally do this with the
client's own data so the accounting records are brought up to date
at the same time. It also means that procedures for any types of
transactions that are specific to the business are covered.
After
the initial training I provide any subsequent help that is required.
If necessary the MYOB datafile can be emailed to me and I can then
help with the benefit of having seen the file. Or alternatively
I can make any amendments that are required and then email the file
back.
